The BT Young Scientist Business Bootcamp 2012 brings together 32 second-level students from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland who have demonstrated an ability to understand how and why ideas can be developed into commercially-viable enterprises. The students were selected in January 2012 from over 1,200 secondary school students who competed in this year's BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition at the RDS in Dublin.

Youngest Winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition Bucks Leaving Cert Trend with Perfect Scores in Science

Emer Jones, the youngest ever winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, has today received six A1s and four A2s in her Leaving Certificate results, achieving the maximum 600 points. Emer has bucked the disappointing trend in this year’s Leaving Certificate science and mathematics results and has already secured a place in the prestigious Cambridge University in the UK where she will study Physics. Emer achieved A1’s in Physics, Biology and Chemistry and an A2 in both Maths and Applied Maths.

BT has today launched the 2012 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition and committed to a further three years as the organiser and sponsor. BT will invest over €2 million over three years in the event, which has become the largest of its kind in Europe since BT became involved 12 years ago.
